Founded in 1968 as a family owned business, Plain & Fancy continues to be run and owned by the Achey family today. Their family-centered mindset maintains top priority, allowing them to give back to the very same community that has supported them throughout their journey.
Plain & Fancy manufactures custom cabinetry, right in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country. They make cabinetry for any room in your home. They can build exactly what you want for your kitchen, library, office, bath, laundry or any other room in your home. They can produce the shelving, cabinetry and desk for your home library or office, the entertainment unit for your family room or home theater, the retractable cabinet for your flat screen TV, the mantel for your fire place or corner cabinet or armoire for that special location in your home. This is just a glimpse at what Plain & Fancy can offer. They are proud to manufacture cabinetry that you can customize to fit your own individual needs. Plain & Fancy uses the finest grade of raw materials. All their creations go through the milling, custom cutting, hand sanding, hand rubbed staining and glazing processes. They use the finest technology in applying paint and top coat finishes. They inspect each piece of cabinetry before it leaves our facility. Finally, your cabinetry is wrapped and delivered. When all this is completed it is all carefully hand loaded onto one of their trucks and delivered to directly to your home.

Cabinet Offerings
Plain & Fancy Custom cabinetry is a cabinet manufacturer, which means that they will build cabinetry to whatever size and description that you give us for your remodel project!
Doors: They offer over 100 different kind of door styles, ranging from traditional, Shaker, country, arts and crafts type doors to very contemporary, modern and European style doors. they painstakingly research market styles and trends so they can add the door styles that you want to see, to their offering.
Finishes: they offer a wide variety of finishes.
Stain: their stains are hand wiped onto finished surfaces, using a trained eye and a steady technique. they check consistency using large layout tables and easels.
Glaze: Glazing is similar to staining, it is an accent finish applied over stain or clear tone or primed finish, which adds character to the color, depth to the wood, and accents to the copes and trim detail.
Enamel: their paint finishes are white wood sanded, primed, sanded, primed again, and sanded before finally a color topcoat is applied. their painted finishes are catalyzed, adding durability, to last for years of high traffic.
Antique Finishes: The finishes are made to resemble old world cabinets, that have noticeable wear, which adds character and depth to the cabinets. they offer various distressing options to choose from such as ding and dent (with a distressing chain),wormholes, knife-cuts and wear sanding.
Their antique distress finishes allow you to choose from various distressing techniques to apply to their cabinet, to bring out the natural character of the wood.
They also have their Brushmark Crackle finish, which is meant to look as if the paint on the cabinets has been chipping away through years of wear and tear.
They offer Brush painted cabinets. This finish is made to look like the paint has been hand brushed on the cabinet.
They also offer a dry brush glaze finish, which gives the cabinet a very rugged and rustic look.

Wood Veneer Interior:
1. Full Dust top, 1/2˝ thick plywood. Provides jam proof drawers and keeps cabinetry square. 2. Sides are 1/2˝ thick plywood with 1/4˝ thick matching wood species added for finished sides. 3. Bottoms are 1/2˝ thick plywood flush to the top of the frame rail, creating flush floors. 4. Shelves are 3/4˝ thick plywood and fully adjustable. Shelves are full depth in walls and taller cabinets and 16˝ depth in bases. Front edge banded. 5. Back of cabinets are 1/4˝ thick plywood. Classic Interior: 1. Full Dust top, 1/2˝ thick particle core vinyl laminated. Provides jam proof drawers and keeps cabinetry square. 2. Sides are 1/2˝ thick vinyl laminated plywood with 1/4˝ thick matching wood species added for finished sides. 3. Bottoms are 1/2˝ thick particle core vinyl laminated flush to the top of the frame rail, creating flush floors. 4. Shelves are 3/4˝ thick plywood vinyl and fully adjustable. Shelves are full depth in walls and taller cabinets and 16˝ depth in bases. Front edge banded. 5. Back of cabinets are 1/4˝ thick medium density particle board, vinyl laminated. 6. All interiors are a 2 mill heat applied vinyl (not paper). Will not water mark. |

Sides are 3/4˝ thick HVH with exterior finished sides veneered to match the face. 4. Backs are 1/4˝ thick plywood dadoed into the sides. 5. Shelves are 3/4˝ thick plywood and fully adjustable. Shelves are full depth in walls and taller cabinets and 16˝ depth in bases. Banded front edge. 6. Case edge-banded with complementary banding. Melamine Interior: (Woodgrain, white or light grey fog) 1. Full dust top, 3/4˝ thick high quality melamine. Provides jam proof drawers and keeps cabinetry square. 2. Top and bottom are 3/4˝ thick high quality melamine. 3. Sides are 3/4˝ thick high quality melamine with exterior finished sides veneered to match the face. 4. Backs are 1/4˝ thick matching hardboard and dadoed into the sides. 5. Shelves are 3/4˝ thick high quality melamine and fully adjustable. Shelves are full depth in walls and taller cabinets and 16˝ depth in bases. Banded front edge. 6. Case edge-banded with complementary banding. |
