Contemporary Kitchen Design & Renovations

Serving NJ & NYC

Contemporary kitchen design is often defined by clean lines with a warm and casual atmosphere. A “less is more” minimalist style within large open space creates architectural elements and uses building materials that are inspired by nature to connect the indoor and outdoor. Often a loft feel is fashioned by using glass and metal components.

  • Consider expansive windows, open floor plans, and lots of natural light
  • Select flat panel cabinet door styles with clean lines and smooth surfaces sans carving or adornment (often called Shaker)
  • Cabinetry made of light colored woods such as maple, any other woods with visually minimal graining
  • Push limits further with high-gloss or lacquered finishes, high-end thermofoils and stainless steel door styles
  • Incorporate innovative, high-tech details like accent lighting built into the drawers and doors, docking drawers for electronics, or “electric drawers” that you touch and they automatically slide out
  • Pair with sleek stainless-steel appliances
  • Countertops possess the same look with smooth, solid-colored surfaces like granite, quartz, stainless steel, wood, and concrete
  • Modernize the countertop even more with a ¾” thickness, instead of 1 ¼”
  • Using tone-on-tone color palettes relying heavily on gray, white, brown or taupe creates a serene, sophisticated, and monochromatic space
  • Accents of color can sometimes be found on a single wall, a kitchen island, or a splash in the tile design
